As you have shown interest in the dating agency and singles events of Across the Room, let me tell you something about myself. I am Eleanor, and I founded Across the Room in 1991 to bring quality social events and introductions to single professionals.

I lived overseas for a number of years and when my marriage broke up I returned to England. I needed to start my life again but was unsure how to do so. I tried a number of various organisations but found the quality of people I met fell below my expectations. No doubt you may have experienced the same disappointments. I tried discos and night-clubs, but met only the predatory - and other women's husbands!

I thought to myself: there must be an intelligent, cultivated life out there somewhere!

I knew by now that there were many single people in my position, so I decided to start my own social scene. My aim was to provide all the factors that I was seeking in a social organisation: to have a large, select membership; to meet compatible people, without the pressure to form an instant relationship; to attend varied and exciting events each month; to mix and mingle in relaxed and civilised surroundings; to give excellent value for money and to make Across the Room the best quality social scene for singles dating in the South of England.

Today, I believe I have achieved these objectives and many new members now join Across the Room through the personal recommendation of existing members.

In addition to our very popular singles events, Across the Room is also the home of our Dating Agency, a personalised introduction service where I offer members tailor-made one to one dates. Across the Room now offers members a whole range of services from the individual tailor made dates and candlelit dinner parties to splendid black tie balls!

Many members have found friendship and romance through Across the Room while enjoying a great improvement in their social lives. Across the Room does not force instant happiness upon you; what it does do is to help you 'Make it Happen'.
